Passing tokens

NYC-Token.png

All I ask is room to speak,
An acknowledgment,
A pause you grant
To listen.
I will not gush,
I will not prattle,
I promise you,
I will not blog.
I will not waste your time
Or mine.
I've only a few things to say
Passing tokens
From me to those I know and love
Perhaps even to others.
Think of my offerings
As subway tokens,
Relics of the past,
Useful coins,
Shiny, humble.
They turned the turnstiles
For me.
And so I pass each back to you.
Enter if you've the time
And inclination.
It is the ride that matters more,
And for your ride
I pass to you a token.
Come onboard. I do not know what is the schedule
But our anxious train departs.
